stagnant escalators

what do people think of while waiting on the escalator, why don't they just use that time walking up instead?
I'd understand if you were wearing a pencil skirt, in that case, you're unable to walk! or if you're old and tired. But for the most working class who should be healthy, why don't they walk up the escalator. (o good way to pump your heat in the mornings)
imagine standing in one place for about 2 minutes. any sane person wouldn't do it, so why do it on an escalator, just cos it's moving is not an excuse.

oh, the other day, while i was walking down the escalator, as usual there's some imbecile or the other who would stand on the right, when there are signboards clearly saying, keep left to let others pass through.
so one guy who was walking down, was being a blocked by another fellow who had either ignored the sign or could not understand english.
and the walking guy was like" brotha, look at the sign la bro"

and i thought that was super cool! it probably takes a lot of confidence to do that as well as charisma since the imbecile was a complete stranger.

I wanna do that too!
So what would i have to say?

hi, you should let others pass though by standing on the left you know! and then laugh it off and walk away quickly?

i think that'd be a lot better than actually grumbling to my self.
